Transcript for "Where Do I Start with AI?": Welcome, everybody. We're very excited to have you join us here for the RealAI Academy. Today, we're all cutting through the hype to focus on practical proven ways to implement AI in your business, specifically within the spend management space. As artificial intelligence continues to shape the future of spend management, organizations are increasingly looking for practical ways to integrate AI driven insights and automation into their platform. But with the vast potential of AI, where do we begin? What we hope to do in this session is demystify the process by providing a clear step by step guide on how you can leverage AI. Attendees will identify key use cases and explore best practices that enhance procurement, sourcing, and overall spend visibility. Whether you're just getting started or looking to deepen your AI integration, this guide is tailored for teams eager to make informed, impactful strides with AI and Coupa. My name is Tricia Miller, and I'm joined today by our experts, Emily Kelly, who's the product manager for our AI center of excellence here at Coupa, and Cathy Dupre, director of sourcing and procurement operations at Franklin Templeton. No matter where you are on your AI journey, just curious and experimenting with tools like ChatGPT, or already applying AI across your business, we are here to help you move from hype to real outcomes. Our focus is on real time intelligence that empowers your teams to act faster, making smarter recommendations, and free up capacity so you can focus on what really matters to drive the business forward. You'll see from our agenda, we have a packed, amount of content for you. But, really, what we're hoping to do is that you walk away with three things. First, we want you to get a clear picture of what AI really is and the kind of value we can bring to you in procurement, supply chain, or finance regardless of your role. Second, we're hoping that you'll have a practical path to actually get to that value. And then third, we want you to think about how Coupa Software can help you deliver measurable results no matter where you choose to start. Now we know as we go through this, many of you might have questions. We want this to be as interactive as possible, so feel free to put the questions into the q and a tab on the right hand side of your screen. We will try and address as many of them as possible as we present here. And if we don't get to them, we'll make sure that we're following up with you offline. We are gonna start with the poll, though. We wanna see where people are. The poll should have just appeared again in that same box on the right hand side of your screen. And and helping us understand where you are, we'll make sure that as we tailor this message, we're making it as valuable and effective as possible for you. So what we wanna ask is very simply, where are you, on how would you classify your own AI understanding? Do you think you're a beginner, intermediate, or advanced? Please feel free to take the poll. We'll see the results come in here. But as we mentioned, both, Emily and I, as we present, this is gonna be very helpful to us. And, also, it'll it'll really help shape this wonderful conversation we've planned with Kathy. Okay. We see a number of votes come in. Well, I'll I'll do an air lead precursor and say not many people showing, or marking themselves as advanced, but maybe that's to be super or to be expected. This is where to get started with AI. So, probably not right the right form if you are considering yourself advanced. Alright. So we really do see most of the people fall into those, first and second book at a little bit more beginner level, which again isn't surprising. This is very new. Every one of us are all trying to figure this out and how to progress. And so, hopefully, if you're a beginner or intermediate, today's session is really gonna be useful to you as you think about what's next and how you get the most out of, of what AI can do for you and your business. Alright. Let's talk a little bit then about, kind of what we're seeing in the market. And there are everybody's familiar with these big number slides. We've all seen them now for a while. What is AI gonna do for, the business, or how is AI gonna change procurement? I think the interesting bit is we're now already at the point where we're seeing big number slides talking about where AI isn't delivering the way it expected. We're we're really the reality of it is is the hard truth, from this study that MIT ran during, the first half of this year, and it was published in Forbes over the summer. It's shown that ninety five percent of Gen AI pilots at enterprise organizations are failing. It's really shocking to see that, we are, you know, as organizations investing so much in this, but it's not delivering the dividends we expect. So we wanna explore a little bit why that is the case. And what we're hearing and what the study showed is that users find that the AI results are unreliable. And and when they look at why it happens, it's because enterprise AI enterprise AI applications, they lack the context and memory that are needed within businesses to truly see the success. A user needs a system to remember its preferences, learn from past edits, and adapt to specific context. If it doesn't have that, it repeats mistakes. It's deemed unreliable, and the user just falls back to a human. Poor workflow integration and customization are causing this. Pilots fail because the systems are often brittle, misaligned with day to day operations, and can't be customized to the specific workflows that you and your teams are operating. Users complain that enterprise grade systems are over engineered and lack the flexibility that general purpose tools like chat g p t, which is the one we're all most familiar with, and that prevents them from being integrated into existing core systems where the pilots are being applied. Really, what this study tells us is we need to be careful where we invest in AI. Fortunately, the, MIT also provides an answer to that same study. Right? There are proven examples. As a counterweight, 67% of businesses that partner with specialized AI vendors are succeeding in driving revenue uplift. What's the difference? It's that specialized AI isn't just about clever algorithms. It's about embedding AI where it matters. For procurement, supply chain, and finance, that's in your spend process, in your supplier interactions, through your payment flow, through the, the end to end management of that supply chain. That's where AI multipliers happen and they drive real impact because let's face it, as great as chat g p t might be and giving you the answer you need in a good synopsis or drafting an email, it's really never gonna tell finance where margin is leaking or procurement how to renegotiate critical contacts. It's not gonna help a supply chain see which supplier risk is about to hit you. That takes domain AI, and that's why we're here. As you saw on the agenda, we're gonna really start with walking through the end to end understanding just from the beginning standpoint of looking at where AI is and how you could think about the different components of AI and what those different components are gonna do for you. So we're excited to continue the discussion. We're excited to see what questions you have. But before we jump in, I do wanna spend a minute really talking about some real results that our Coupa Software customers have seen and bring you through the multiple different personas that have seen those results. So let's start with, as we look at the c suite. Right? Over the, Coupa customer base, we're seeing that on average, 5.8% of savings can be achieved on the spend, and that can deliver a 276% ROI over three years. The payback can happen within ten months. For the c suite leaders, this is because and delivered by the power of Coupa's complete total spend management platform. AI will unlock the insights, the automation, and the proactive decision making that gives these results, and makes those results possible for our c c c suite leaders. Coupa AI mines the community and company data. It looks at forecast opportunities and migrates risk or mitigates, I should say, risk, turning the platform from a system of record into an engine of continuous value. But when we click into that and we really look at where or how it's helping each of the individual personas that we've outlined on this page, let's start with procurement. Right? We know that Coupa is a is a world renowned procurement system. Let's talk a little bit about what Uber managed to accomplish from the use of Coupa AI classification. Through leveraging AI classification to look across all of this and and, drive intelligence into the scanning of the millions of transactions and supplier profiles, they were able to drive savings of almost 25,000,000 by spotting the sourcing inefficiencies, whether that was multiple contracts with the same supplier showing different prices, whether it was, by identifying purchases and invoices that weren't going against those contracts, or whether it was spotting multiple different suppliers providing the same goods and services at different costs. By understanding their data and where the potential was, they were able to create sourcing strategies to drive that unnecessary spend out of their total spend management capability. Again, let's take another look at, let's take another look and really talk about where our, finance team are seeing benefit from the, Coupa AI. We see with finance that they are able to use Coupa AI solutions like SpendGuard to identify intentional or even unintentional fraud management, whether it's purchases, our invoices that are spotting patterns of, risky buying behavior or even just, unintelligent buying behavior. In real time, Coupa Spend Guard is continually monitoring those spending patterns, flagging the anomalies so that customers can enable proactive fraud prevention within weeks of going live. Customers that have have, launched Coupa Spend Guard as an example have been able to save a million dollars, from just identifying duplicate invoices alone. When we look at sustainability and we look at what Microsoft have been able to do, Microsoft's cloud supply chain was going at 40 to 60% each year, and that was driving up costs and emissions, and the reliance on spreadsheets made it hard to balance speed and efficiency and and their sustainability tracking overall. By adopting Coupa AI supply chain solutions, Microsoft have used scenario modeling to test the strategies like freight consolidation, inventory placement, and distribution center optimization. This has enabled smarter decision making resulting in a 60% result in transportation emissions. Just think about that. That's more than half of it, a reduction in their transportation emissions and improving efficiency, proving that sustainability and performance can go hand in hand. Now last but not least, let's talk a little bit about the IT organization. They often get overlooked when we think about a procurement system. But when we deployed, when Fivetran deployed Coupa Software, they were able to identify, a four x saving in the generation of their analytics data and reports for total spend management because they reduced the movement of data across their different systems. There was a massive inefficiency, both from operationally, the IT's providing support across all those integration layers and APIs, and that delay in time it took to drive a single view of their spend. And and Coupa Software was able to solve that further, leaving both the procurement team and the IT team at Fivetran very excited about that deployment. But with all of those examples, let's pause for a minute and and really start to think about AI, what it is, how it can be applied and for this part of the journey, I'm actually going to turn over to Emily and she's going to share, much more context on, on those core components of AI and how they're gonna be valuable to you. Awesome. Thanks, Trisha, and thank you all for being here today. So when we talk about AI, we think about it as the toolbox with tools to perform tasks that require human intelligence, and that can be anything from learning to predicting to reasoning to actioning. So Jordan asked in the chat what AI model is Coupa Software using under the hood. And it's important to think about that there isn't any one model to solve all problems. So what what we do at Coupa Software is we think about AI in four different categories. Machine learning is the first category. It's maybe been around the longest. And think about that like a measuring tape in your toolbox. It learns from data. It understands the patterns to predict and estimate, what will happen next. Traditional forecasting models have been using machine learning for a long time. Deep learning is the power drill beneath that. Deep learning processes complex data faster to scan invoices or detect quality defects. Deep learning is used across our platform today on everything from normalizing suppliers across all of our customers using our really powerful community dataset to Spend Guard, which you heard a little bit about. Our newest friend is our new newest new friends are generative AI and agentic AI. So generative AI is like the paintbrush. Large language models can be used to create new content such as drafting a contract for you and, creating a sourcing questionnaire to generate documents on your behalf with just requirements that you have to enter. And then finally, Agentic AI. Think about Agentic AI like the project manager on top. It can reason, plan, and orchestrate multiple tools, including everything above this to take action and to follow-up, like running a sourcing event for you end to end. The best platform now utilizes the right mix of tools to drive the best outcome while keeping in mind cost, quality, and reliability. Let's look at some examples of what each model does for customers. So on the machine learning side, machine learning can, machine learning is in the category of automation. And machine learning is using maybe rules based workflows to help your customers get their work done a little bit faster. Beyond machine learning, let's look at how all of this measures up to being how all of this takes you from automation to autonomy. On the far left here, you're seeing we have automation doing the most boring, repetitive grunt work. Think about it as your least exciting but most reliable teammate. It frees your team up from tedious tasks but stays fully under human human control. That gives you instant productivity boosts with zero risk where you're fully in control of what the possible outcomes are. Step a little to the right and AI steps into the role of your smartest copilot. It's no longer just doing tasks. It's thinking alongside you, spotting risks, and making smart suggestions. You're still the captain, but the co pilot turbocharges your decisions. Push further, and we're cruising into agentic AI territory where AI AI AI starts running the show and helps manage your routine decisions and complex workflows for you. Think auto think about autonomous spend management engines that are onboarding suppliers effortlessly and catching fraud before it happens. This is the breakthrough we're seeing where AI isn't assisting. It is dominating. It is doing more of the heavy lifting, which is freeing up your team to focus on bold strategic moves. And on the far right, you see full autonomy. The AI runs radical experience at learn experiments. It learns on its own, and it adapts instantly. The future of AI isn't some AI takeover. It is a combination of different kinds of intelligence that are and you get to decide where you want to push the throttle and how far you want to push it in specific areas. You control the pace. You can start with what feels safe, automate the obvious and repeatable tasks, augment your experts. And as your trust in the AI systems grow, dial up that autonomy. At Coupa, we're giving you the wheel and the power to shape your AI journey your own way. So we've talked a little bit about the journey from automation to autonomy. Let's look at what that means at Coupa. So at the core of AI is automation, letting AI handle repetitive rules based tasks so your team can work smarter and not harder. Coupa's contract intelligence is a great example of automation, and it's speeding up your contract review by extracting key data and and helping you focus more time on learning what you need to do with the contract instead of reading all the details of what's in the contract. In AP, AI reads and matches invoices instantly, slashing manual air entry errors by up to 70%. Automation isn't about replacing people. It frees them to focus on the decisions that really move the business forward. Augmentation is where AI becomes your partner, providing real time context aware recommendations while you stay in the driver's seat. Our supplier management tools at Coupa offer insights that help you evaluate risk and performance without losing control. Stem Guard, my favorite Coupa product, flags potential fraud so that you can act before issues escalate and identifies patterns over time that you may not have been able to find on your own. And Navi acts like your AI copilot, guiding you through workflows, answering your questions, and boosting your productivity. This is AI that empowers, not replaces. When we did that survey at the beginning, as we saw, most people wouldn't call themselves AI experts quite yet. When we think about a world in the future where we are all saying, yes. We're experts, I think at that point, we are trusting AI in this autonomous space. So right now, this is where we see the most potential. We see potential for this to transform how we work, and we're just getting started. But some ideas we think about are supplier management and supply chain collaboration and in the fraud detection areas. Now in addition to catching suspicious spend in Spend Guard, for example, we can imagine a world where AI agents are taking action and disputing those invoices on your behalf. With all of but in order to get there, what we know is that trust is paramount to your success. That's what we've seen with Vanguard over the last several years and what we will continue to see moving forward. It's important to balance risk with value and for you to fully understand how the AI is working behind the scenes. Jumping in to specific examples across the product, let's put the AI to work for you at each and every step of your spend management workflow. For finance procurement and supply chain leaders, this means a fundamental shift. Instead of being bogged down by manual approvals, repetitive invoice checks, or reactive supplier firefighting, AI gives teams the speed and intelligence to proactively work and focus on outcomes that truly move the needle. So on this screen, you'll see that Coupa does this across our designed to pay platform, and I'll call out a few examples. On the category strategy side, Coupa dot ai can analyze your category strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and risks. That can produce an outcome of building more precise plans with 25% greater accuracy. On the SCDP side, Coupa uses AI to model millions of supply chain scenarios. Our supply chain modelers can more quickly mitigate risks and capture savings. And what we've seen are outcomes including reducing transportation and inventory costs by 10% and boosting plan accuracy by over 20%. For those amazing supply chain modelers in your organization, SCDP powered by Wlamasoft is what allows your team to work more efficiently and look further into the future. At intake and orchestration, AI powered summaries uses natural language processing to help procurement and finance approvers understand requisitions instantly, which can accelerate your approval cycles by 25%, and it can reduce frustration from end users because now it's simpler for them to get the request they need for the software or the services they need faster. On the sourcing side of things, our natural language AI our natural language AI generates concise summaries of completed sourcing events, giving our procurement professionals faster visibility and reducing reducing review time by 40%. With one of our most recent Navi agents, we're able to show you bid summaries across multiple events so you don't have to click around and look at how did the supplier handle these different event respond to these different scenarios differently. You can see all of that in one place. On the contract management side, Gen AI delivers accurate overviews of complex contracts on import or during negotiation, empowering procurement and finance teams to have contact contract review times and speed negotiations by 50%. On the procurement side, our AI driven commodity insights leverages community data to optimize supplier strategies, delivering procurement team savings of an average of 7%. With our community data, you can also do things like drilling into the specific price you paid for specific items and see how that price could be better managed by, by adopting different pricing strategies. On the invoice and management side, GenAI and machine learning intelligently extract and validate invoice data, reducing finance time and manual entry by 70%. On the payment side, our community powered AI identifies suppliers that accept virtual cards and recommend spend shifts, enabling finance teams to boost rebates and increase virtual card and usage by 35%. I'm seeing lots of questions about these metrics in the chat. So once I get through all of these boxes, I'll stop and take a couple of questions. On the spend analytics side, you can cut your manual auditing by 50% with AI alerts that flag your transactional behaviors and inconsistent spend risks. That's our powerful Spend Guard product. And as you can see, Coupa Software platform was designed to help you act with intelligence and speed. What you see on top of this and and as part of our future is the heart of Coupa Software AI now has a new buddy with Navi. AI becomes the Navi becomes the new UX that is conversational in nature and makes your experiences with Coupa Software platform more enjoyable, easier, and faster. Navi guides users through workflows they use the most, making it easier to accomplish your tasks and make smarter decisions. Navi's team of agents orchestrates you with each other, collaborating, interacting with systems, surfacing options, finding risks, and initiating actions, all while keeping you in control. As Coupa Software dataset grows, Navi gets smarter, expanding capabilities and skills to redefine productivity and streamline workflows, as well as advancing the accuracy of the skills it already has. It's been very cool to see Navi grow and evolve over the last year or two, and we're at the point now where we have seen dedicated, success stories and and proof points that show us that our Navi agents are making tangible impacts in our customers' workflows. So a couple of things that I'll mention is the Navi supply chain modeling agent. We've talked to modelers who have said that the Navi supply chain agents have the opportunity to help boost planning accuracy by 20 to 30%. On the strategic sourcing side, we have customers using Navi to get product guidance to help set up sourcing events, and that is showing us get that customers can get answers to their sourcing questions about 20% faster. And on the analytics side, with our natural language prompts, the analytics agent is allowing customers to develop custom reports and charts and insights significantly faster. This is one of those agents for every time someone starts using it, they say, wow. This is amazing. And we've heard from customers that it that they it saved 70 to 90% of the amount of time they used to spend looking for the right fields and filters they needed to generate reports that were important. So I've got one minute for questions before I hand this off to our speaker. I will go into these. So there's a question from Darren who says, as an analytics user, my biggest concern about AI is how reports and views are created. Coupa Software out of the box analytics reports do not always show the details behind the fancy charts. Will Navi be able to do this for us? Yes. We know that as as we're developing trust with these agentic solutions, you need to stay in the driver's seat, and you need to understand what the agents are doing and why they're doing it. So we put, like, chain of thought reasoning at the forefront of our product designs. For the analytics agent specifically, what that means is before it provides an answer to how much spend do I have with the supplier, it tells you how it came up with that answer. In addition, you can click, you can always drill in to a new analytics report where you can see all of the fields that have been selected from the data schema to correspond with the metric and the results that were provided. And that way, you have complete control over, what Navi has produced, how it has produced it. And if you want to change something like you wanted to use invoice header instead of invoice line, You have the opportunity to work with Navi to make those updates or use the traditional analytics workflow to make those updates yourself. One more question. For the contract management, who is the who has seen these 50% improvements in cycle time users? What kind of customer? And that came from Courtney. So right now, we've seen the most, successful results with our CLMA customers, but there are many more enhancements coming in the contract space that will be usable by all contracts customers in, the next couple of months. Are the metrics just for AP, or do they also include the Coupa Software expense module, says Sasha? Expenses definitely also is included. It's not in the flow on this slide, but we have, some really exciting new capabilities coming out with expenses. Navi is linked to expenses, and there's an ability to process custom fields on receipts now. So we don't have that highlighted because we couldn't talk about every single AI capability in this deck. But, if you're interested, Sasha Sasha, please, feel free to reach out to us, and we can give you more details about that. With that, I'll hand it over to Tricia to introduce our speaker. Thank you very much, Emily. That was really wonderful. And I think what Emily was trying to demonstrate there is just how deep the Coupa AI goes. We have a 125 plus capabilities. Some of them she spoke to and the outcome is that they're delivering, but we're able to deliver that value because, it is leveraging the $8,000,000,000,000 worth of transactional data that exists across the platform. It's contractually compliant and ethically sourced data, anonymized across all of our customers. But that level of insight and expertise is really helping Coupa ensure that AI is intrinsically delivering value across the platform. And what we're moving to right now is, hearing from one of our customers, who is on that journey, a Coupa customer who's on the journey to drive those savings of that 5.8% and and to get to that ROI. Cathy, it's really wonderful to have you here today to talk about Franklin Templeton's impressive journey with Coupa and how AI is driving real business returns. To start, let's focus on your introduction and share a little bit about Franklin Templeton. Sure. Thanks, Tricia. So I'm trying to get started, Franklin Templeton. I've been with the firm for about six years now, responsible for leading the transformation of our sourcing and procurement processes. Franklin Templeton is a global investment management company. We manage about $8,200,000,000,000 in assets globally. We have over 10,000 employees, and, we focus heavily in the private and alternative investments market. Wow. That's a huge footprint. Okay. Let's let's focus then on on, where you are on your journey and starting. How do you see AI playing a role in supporting procurement to your function at Franklin Templeton? Are there any executive initiatives or projects driving AI adoption in your team? Yeah. So our CEO, Jenny Johnson, is pushing AI out as an initiative across the entire firm and really empowering us to come up with our our use cases for our specific functions that are gonna help enable our groups to really grow and scale. The way I'm looking at AI for Franklin and the procurement function is to use it to help our team become more efficient, provide more insight. You know, given that we have increasing workload and, honestly, the workload keeps getting more and more complex as we look at the risks that continue to get introduced into the environment. You know, looking at it to help automate our workload again, become more efficient and scalable for the business. Yeah. I'm smiling on multiple levels there. Right? Because you you said things that I'm pretty sure most of our audience can probably relate to. You talked about leadership's, leadership's expectation within companies to drive that AI adoption and take advantage of AI. And then you also spoke to something that is very much, what every procurement leader knows. We we are as function being asked to do more, but without obviously that, massive investment that might be needed to do it. And so there's an opportunity for us to think about how AI can help. But, you know, when you think about your procurement function, what did it look like when you joined Franklin Templeton? And and how is Coupa Software helping you transform where you are and where you're trying to get to? Yeah. So when I started Franklin, you know, we only had $30,000,000 of spend running through our ERP system. So we were very decentralized, had a lot of manual processes. And, actually, our procurement team was very teeny, probably about 10 only about 10 to 12 folks that were in the group. We had no visibility into renewal, no visibility into contract or spend. Again, manual processes, which was really unsustainable. And, you know, we have this huge opportunity of spend that we could see of about 2,500 with the current million dollars in spend that really needed to be managed. This is what we really looked at Coupa Software. We looked to redesign our whole process, our people, and our technology. And Coupa Software really was the foundation and the platform that we look to use to enable the redesign that we had to undergo. We started off with, the AI classification, actually, so the STEM classification as a as a kickoff. So we took all of our data from multiple sources, normalized it, and classified it through the AI classification module to identify opportunities to help rationalize our spend and deliver savings to the firm. From there, being able to identify the opportunities that we had, we moved on to implement the searching module. We implemented contract CLNA. We've implemented procurement, invoicing, including invoice smash. We have supplier performance for carding up and running and analytics, and the supplier information management module as well for supplier onboarding. We're now looking to kind of move some more advanced capability to continue to mature our program. That's where, some of the AI capability comes into play. Agents like Navi to help, automate a lot of the repetitive questions that come into our procurement team. And we're also in the process of deploying SendGuard to eliminate manual controls we have in place to detect, you know, duplicate payments. Wow. It's all I'm gonna say. Right? That is so much that you've done and then you're adopting. I it is an incredible, progression, obviously, from from the the spend that you were managing in the beginning to the art of the possible and how you're leveraging the different multiple different pieces of of Coupa Software offerings to do that. And AI classification, that was the same example I gave earlier in Uber, and it is a great example because it really helps you see where your spend is and the art of the possible. And then your point around moving from that to Coupa Software sourcing to execute, right, to execute the projects that would help you take that spend out. Just an incredible journey. And I also love the point you made about Navi. Right? I know Navi's early days and and a lot of our customers are really just trying to figure out where to use it. But there's real potential to use Navi to free up your people to do the work that matters more, right, to drive that strategic value instead of answering questions. Right? The Navi knowledge agent is a great example of of where it can do that. Look, you obviously spoke to massive amount of progress and and the different capabilities, but, and and we've spoken quite a bit to the Coupa Software AI capabilities operating seamlessly in that single configurable platform. Right? It's not Coupa Software as a platform and AI. It is integrated delivery. But can you walk us through how you're transforming your workflows at Franklin Templeton from start to finish using both that platform and what AI can do on top of the platform? Sure. So we use Coupa Software, like, like, a different end to end. Right? So from the business identifying, I have a requirement. That request comes into the procurement team to get triaged and routed to the appropriate function within our group that would manage the request. You know, that request can move from sourcing to a contract, to supplier onboarding, to the PO getting issued off the contract, ultimately, down to the invoice, you know, coming in at the end of the cycle, whether it's coming through the Coupa Software supplier portal or we're using invoice smash, to help convert that invoice into an electronic format so that someone doesn't have to key it in and match it with our our receipts and our purchase orders. You know, we're looking you know, you know, we're we're at the tail end of the plane's Vanguard and using that to eliminate manual controls that we have an AT to, to detect, to find, to book invoices. We're also using Stem Guard in the procurement space to look at fraudulent purchasing activity and monitor that as well. And then, again, we're continuing to look at, Navi maybe to help us with analytics as well since we have some analytics up and running in the tool. And then also help us look to answer a lot of those questions that we kinda test that come in that are repetitive. Again, freeing up our team to focus on more value activity and making more, you know, low risk tactical type, you know, transaction self serve to our business requesters. Yeah. I know that there's a lot of conversation. We won't we won't get into it today, but there's a lot of discussion around will AI eliminate roles, etcetera. I I think of within procurement, not a chance because I've yet to meet a procurement function that is anywhere close to the size it needs to be just to meet the business requirements. And so within procurement, we really should be thinking about and and you gave great examples of where if we leverage AI and and and, you know, on top of that, the agentic capabilities of something like Navi, it'll allow us to create capacity within the existing resources we have to do that next level offering. And and I just love examples of that. But we I mean, when you think about it, how are you helping translate all of this into real results? I know that when we drive change, a critical part of driving that change is what were you trying to do, did you do it, and did you make sure that your leaders have visibility to it? And so are you at the point where you're able to give a good content of the value you're finding, the Coupa Software journey, that you're taking is delivering? Yeah. There's a few key metrics that I track that go back to the original business case that I had for Coupa Software when I started, this whole journey. One is how much spend do we have under management? So we have over $500,000,000 of spend that's coming through the tool, coming through our contract, coming through procurement, and and making their way through invoices. One of our other key metrics, so invoice automation. So we were looking at, you know, driving up the percentage of invoices that are automated for our AP team. We're currently at 45% driving to get towards 60 to 80% or even higher of automation. One of the other things was savings. Right? How much savings that we deliver to the back of the business by driving, people through the central process and managing that $500,000,000 of spend. And and we're, you know, saving on that on average annually about $20,000,000. We've pretty much tripled the amount of savings that we drive back to the firm, and we're almost looked at by our CFO as, like, a a profit center for the firm. And then, you know, now we're gonna be looking at AI to continue to help us automate workflows. Again, wrapping up the deployment of Vanguard to prevent duplicate payments from going out the door and looking at that Navi agent to really help automate some more tasks. Again, to help our team focus on being more strategic. I mean, there's some incredible outcomes. Right? That spend visibility alone. And and and what a procurement function can do for for an organization overall when we can provide that level of spend visibility and the opportunities that we have to shape, further savings when we have that spend visibility. That that's just incredible. I'm keeping an eye on the q and a. I definitely have a few more questions for you, but I do wanna encourage anyone who can relate to, obviously, everything that Kathy is sharing with us. If you have any questions, please feed them in because we'll have Kathy for a few minutes. And if there are questions that she can answer, I what are what if she knows or not, I'm I'm happy to ask them and and and, if she can answer them and provide insights, for you, hopefully, it'd be helpful. But, look, when you look ahead, right, now you've talked about about a lot about what's done and you talked a little bit about where you're going next. But what what do you think is really next with kube.ai? Where where are your priorities, and and and what else can you see in the future as an area of focus for you? In addition to the things that I already talked about, like, looking at AI to, again, automate, you know, some of those manual tasks to help to help drive further insight into our spend and opportunities that we have. Definitely, another area would even be contract intelligence. You know, we have quite a heavy volume of complex contracts coming through. And the more that we can use AI to help create efficiency during that cycle to speed up the time it takes to to, you know, to get to market with a contract is is super important to us. And, again, we wanna empower our business to be more self you know, self serve and where they can, serve up the information to them rather than having to come out. Yeah. We all know massive opportunities within contract intelligence. Right? There is, so much rich data there that historically we couldn't access because the tools didn't really allow us to read them and then consume them and absorb them. And so really great that you're getting, you're looking at how now with this next week of solutions you can really change that. So let let's you know, and and the last question I have for you and, again, if anyone in the audience has any, I'll I'll I'll keep an eye on that. But the last one I had is, really, what what is AI doing for your team? How are they, looking at this opportunity? You you mentioned quite a bit around freeing your team up from manual work so they could focus on the strategic. Do you feel them seeing that as a positive understanding the art of the possible and embracing it in the right way? I I would say it's an uphill battle. I think what you talked about earlier in getting people to trust that the AI will do just as good a job as the human does. Like, even in Vanguard, having my AT team trust that Vanguard will deliver, you know, the controls that we're doing manually today is a challenge. I think what we're seeing with Navi quite far is improved from when it started, so I think the the trust is building there. And the same thing on contract, it will be about no battle even getting our legal counsel to use the contract module in general, let alone trusting you know, getting them to trust in AI to do their review again will be an uphill battle as well. But, you know, it's something that people, I think, are gonna have to embrace, in order to be successful in the future. Yeah. I mean, very much in line with your thinking on that. I think the reality of it is, we as as leaders have to help our team see what it can do for them and and more importantly, the role that they play when some of that work is taken away. Right? So one, they can trust the results. It's with AI, it's always review and verify. Right? But, assuming that over time the results will get better. And but also, where do they fit in the future of the organization and how are we supporting them, on that, journey? And so that's a critical part. And, look, Kathy, this was a wonderful, conversation. I am beyond grateful to you for sharing the insight that, you have gained in how, Coupa dot ai can drive value for Franklin Templeton and showing some real results. Right? We're not we're not just highlighting, logos on a slide. Right? You're speaking to the real outcomes, which is very exciting, for you within Franklin Templeton and very exciting for us within Coupa to see our customers achieve those things. So thank you very much. Alright. So as we continue, I do hope that, you know, that that, part of the discussion, really understanding a customer, many, you know, Kathy just representing what many of you are feeling, I'm sure, where many of you are starting, really understanding that and how you can learn from each other in this journey. But let's continue on the agenda. I'm gonna turn it back to Emily now, where she's gonna walk us through some kind of next level visibility into what the capabilities can do. Emily, back to you. Awesome. Thanks, Tricia. And thank you, Cathy. It's so great to hear how you've used AI to make your organization more successful. I love hearing about the success stories with AIC, and I'm really excited to hear how your SpenGuide implementation goes. So moving into our back to our kind of scheduled content. As we've talked about, agentic AI comes in stages. So before you heard from Kathy, I was talking about the categories of AI that we look at in Coupa, and I was providing our real world examples that cover machine learning, deep learning, and agentic capabilities. Now we're going to double click into the agentic part further. We're going to talk more about Navi and where we're going with our Navi platform. So just as with AI overall, agentic AI comes in stages from no engagement to full autonomy. At the lower end, agents simply provide information or advice. But as you move along, they start assisting with tasks and then begin to take actions on your on your behalf based on assumptions. Ultimately, we see a world where they can operate independently with minimal human input. The Navi AI agents are designed to help your organizational process align to the spectrum from simply providing intelligence and guidance to automating more complex tasks in the future. This means you can start with basic AI powered support and, as your confidence and needs grow, gradually unlock higher levels of automation and autonomy for more business value. Analysts project that AI agents are transforming workplace productivity for roles in procurement, finance, and analytics by delivering substantial gains in efficiency, accuracy, and onboarding speed. I know we've thrown a lot of metrics at you in this presentation, but I think the more that we see different outlets talking about these metrics and measuring value, the more real it starts to feel, at least to me. So with instant information retrieval, we see analysts are seeing that users can quickly access documents, policies, and data via natural language prompts, eliminating manual searches and reducing retrieval time by 60 to 90%. Through automated reporting and analytics, teams can generate custom reports and dashboards without technical expertise, leading to a 50 to 80% decrease in reporting and analytics time. Guided decision support leverages real time context aware policy recommendations to cut error and speed up decisions by 30 to 50%. For onboarding and training, interactive AI guidance enables new employees to ramp up 50 to 70% faster, ensuring they can contribute value much sooner. As leading industry studies cons confirm, organizations deploying AI agents report up to 61% greater operational efficiency and a dramatic reduction in task completion times, enabling staff to focus on higher value work and accelerating return on investment. Now let's double click into what agents are in the Coupa Software ecosystem today and how they map to your different personas. Reid in the comments was asking, I need to see Navi real. This is where I'll be showing you what the agents are today and what they each do. We don't have time for a demo in this call, unfortunately. I would love to jump in and do a live demo. That's what I spend a lot of my time doing. However, if you're interested in these specific agents, we have many additional resources that we can provide after this call. Let's dig in to procurement and sourcing professionals. To unlock real value with AI, you want to make sure that you are aligning agents to those use cases that are helpful. So for your sourcing professionals, we talked about how cutting onboarding time and minimizing procurement questions is something that Forrester has brought up as being valuable. The Navi knowledge agent answers that by allowing you to configure Navi to answer questions based on your company specific buying policies and Coupa Software best practices. We've seen that users are finding answers 20 to 30% faster with that knowledge agent implemented because you can learn what the latest and greatest tips and tricks in Coupa are from Coupa from Coupa's vast documentation repository, and you can configure Navi to address questions with answers that come specifically from your organization. For procurement professionals, reducing the time to requisition is something that we see as being a time intensive process that is right for automation. The Coupa Navi request creation agent is a really cool new agent that is extracting information from unstructured contract attachments and automatically creating requests on user's behalf based on the information in that contract. Now we talked about the importance of trust. And for all of these agents along the way, the user has an opportunity to review what has Navi done, why has it done that. I want to tweak this. That's not quite right. That conversational framework is built in so that you can gain trust and confidence in the system. And then the final use case that I'll highlight for our sourcing professionals is our bid evaluation agent, which is live now. And as I alluded to earlier, it allows you to compare the supplier responses across multiple events, and it provides recommendations on the trends that that the agent is seeing so that your sourcing professional can make decisions faster. Deloitte has told us that there's an opportunity to speed up your sourcing cycles, and we believe that the suite of sourcing agents coming out through Navi starting with this bit evaluation agent is going to help you get there. Let's switch gears and talk about our end users. So for our end users, the value of AI comes from simplifying daily workflows and enhancing productivity. Agents like that the document discovery agent reduce the amount of time spent searching for transactions by up to 90%, making it easier for users to focus on critical tasks. Meanwhile, that knowledge agent provides answers to policy questions, troubleshooting, and training. I've I've been talking to a team that is brand new to Coupa Software, and they've told me that they use the knowledge agent almost every day because it helps them navigate how do I get around this Coupa Software platform so much faster than they could have done on their own. The reduction in search and query time boosts compliance spend and speeds onboarding, empowering users to adopt AI confidently without disruption. Over to our finance and analytics friends, those teams are leveraging AI for accuracy and efficiency gains in processing and reporting. So our operational reporting agent automates the generation of custom views or reports and enables, you to take actions faster. What that means is you can approve transactions in the chat itself. You can build a report with all of your contracts expiring in the next six months instantly. That reduces the amount of time to navigate and click through the platform and get to the insights you need. On the analytics side, Navi's analytics agent is generating charts on your behalf, summarizing data for you quickly and helping you get started with new analyses in analytics. It also will direct your users to the analytics dashboards that you may have prebuilt or presaved to a user base. We predict that this will reduce analysts reporting build times by up to 70 to a 100%, and that's right in line with what Forrester said that there's an opportunity to generate custom dashboards 50 to 80% faster. In some tests, Navi created a custom report in 54. And in in a situation where the user, when they tried to do that on their own, they spent three minutes, they got frustrated, and they gave up and asked a friend. Think about that value going from three minutes of frustration and giving up to fifty four seconds and getting exactly what you need. So next so we want to make it easy for customers to adopt capabilities. And what that means is that Coupa Software has AI to leap from experimental to real results. We know people are at different points in their journey, and you don't need to adopt all things AI right now. So we've split this up into an easy crawl, walk, run for you. The crawl are the quick win opportunities. This is where you can add AI in low risk, high impact areas. This also could include if this also could include what technologies your organization is comfortable with. If they're not all in on using a large language model yet, there are many other kinds of AI in the platform that you can start experimenting with to get value today. Examples include the document summation summarization and our price benchmarks. Our AP automation suite eliminates manual error prone processes in accounts payable. The walk section is the mid to long term opportunities. This is where you're building trust with AI partners, and this is where your AI is working across power user workflows. We see this examples of this including support augmentation and workflow enhancement. This is also where SpendGuard falls in because SpendGuard is an amazing is an example of predicting suspicious spend behaviors that you probably couldn't have noticed on your own. As you heard, the we usually hear from customers that they get a return on their investment from SunGard within weeks of implementing the product. So as you're thinking about how to get your organization familiar and onboard with AI, think about solutions like SpendGuard that deliver value that you couldn't have fully captured on your own and that works fast in a way that you can explain to deliver that value for your organization. And then run. Run is full steam ahead AI technologies that require more due diligence, putting it into your end user workflow, using AI to totally replace your processes. I know some people on this call are already running, and maybe you've already built some agents in other studios or platforms today. So what does that mean for Coupa? In Coupa, we say turn on Navi and start working with our next gen AI capabilities from the success since you've heard from the contract intelligence to capabilities like the analytics agent, we believe that these next gen AI capabilities are what's next. Now let's finally before I send you back to Trisha to wrap us up, let's compare the hype to what customers are saying about Coupa AI. Most of these quotes are new, but we've been fortunate to interview some of these customers for an IMA webinar. Both procurement and finance users, a VP of procurement, Chris Siwek, and a controller, Nicole Dietz, said the same comment. We were able to take advantage of AI immediately after it going live. That shows how Coupa quickly provides value with AI because we have made it simple and integrated with our products. We've been fortunate to have other customers join us throughout the year, and I'll leave this line up for a moment so that you can read some of their success stories. What I'll close with is is saying that you've heard from other customers. You've heard from Cathy today. AI is here. It's it's the future, and there are many ways for you to get engaged with Coupa's AI. I'll now hand it over to Tricia to talk more about what those opportunities are and close this out. Well, Emily, before we do that, I'm not gonna let you go just yet, if you don't mind. There are a couple of questions that for example, in things like, is the Navi module specific? Can we implement it for analytics only or is it implemented across the platform? If you can maybe share some insights on that, that might be useful to many of the audience members here. Yeah. Absolutely. Great question. And the answer is it's totally configurable by you. You get to decide what agents within Navi you want to turn on and turn off. So you can choose to turn on all the Navi agents, or you can say I want to start with one or two and see how it works in these specific areas. You also have complete control over what users, are leveraging Navi. So if you want to try with a couple of power users first, that's another way for you to, get your feet wet, learn where Navi is adding value to your organization, and then scale from there. Thank you so much, Emily. I knew that question was one that a lot of people might have, and those insights are just wonderful. Alright. So as we look to kinda round out this journey, there's one really, really, important part that I wanna speak to because we talk a lot about AI and we tend to think of it as a technical or digital journey. And I I really want to highlight that there's to really see success with AI to avoid that 95% number where AI pilots are failing. Companies really must embrace a culture of continuous change, and and recognize the need to make an org structure changes to support that. Barclays, as an example, embraced, that approach. Right? They recognized where, Navi could eliminate some work and, were able to and AI drove them a greater level of efficiency, and they were able to move teams from doing that manual repetitive work to more high value strategic, work that, was was driving different levels of value for the organization. The transformations are real. It's fueled by data and the automation and their trust in their employees. But helping our employees see where they can support this journey and where they're going to be with you as an organization on that journey is very helpful. I hit on that a little bit with Kathy, but I wanted to double down on it a little bit more on this particular slide. So for me, I think when you walk away from today, obviously, you're thinking about all the wonderful features and capabilities that, Emily highlighted. You're wondering which pieces of Navi to turn on, and you're, I'm sure, thinking about how to tell the business case and and and convince your leaders maybe that there's an opportunity here to drive greater value. But in addition to that, I would encourage you to think about who within your function is going to support this journey. Right? It's it's important that as you look at your digitization journey and really your adoption of AI journey, you think about how you're gonna build a procurement AI center of excellence. Whether it's a half a person or depending on your size, a few people, really having a group within your function, not just an IT organization, but a group within your function who really understand your business problems and are investing the time to understand all of these new capabilities that are coming out, where AI is embedded within the platform or what Navi is doing on top of the platform will ensure that as these capabilities come faster and faster, you're ready to take advantage of them. You're able to make the changes within the organization to adopt them and get value immediately. So one, think about the procurement AI center of excellence within your own team. Two, think about how you're explaining to your team the role that they'll play in the future state organization. If you take away manual work that's currently executed by the team, what are they going to be doing in the future? Really helping them understand the role that they can play when, when they get to focus on the work that matters most and showing them that you're gonna support them on the elevation of their skills and minds and to help them do that is going to ensure that your team come along with you on the journey. And then last but not least, and this one sometimes can be a little bit harder because it's not just inside the realm of your control. But if you can really work and build that partnership with your IT organization, it can be very helpful when your IT organization and you as the functional lead are in lockstep on just what you wanna do and why and are essentially structured in a way that allows you to do rapid consumption of the solution on an ongoing basis. Okay, with those things in mind, again recognizing it's not just about technology, it's about org structure and people as well. I do want to to go to another poll. Again, the poll will appear in the right hand side box on your screen, but we wanna ask you, what are you gonna do next? Right? After the learnings from today's session, what step is, is most likely that you're gonna, take? And please know, even this one, you can actually, select a few. Are you gonna join, the role specific AI academy sessions that are coming up over the coming We have one for supply chain, for procurement, and finance. Separate sessions that'll go to that next level of detail. Are you going to register for the upcoming Coupa Software AI live demo? That's on November 18. When you share the recording with your teammates, Because really, as we know and look at adoption, the more that understand it, the better. Will you contact us for a one on one AI demo? Or are you going to see continued focus on AI, and isn't a priority for you? And maybe you just joined us today to learn a little bit but this isn't something that your organization's looking at. I think it's unlikely the last one is where you're gonna go, considering you joined us today, but we'd love to hear from you. Which of these things are the are the next steps that you're willing to take? So, hopefully, you're seeing that poll and putting the the point in. As you do that, I'm gonna address the question that kind of come up a few times. Have we got differentiated AI results from the platform overall? And the answer is, in some cases, yes. I do think it's important that as you walk away from today's call, you understand that AI is embedded throughout Coupa Software. The results you get are because of the platform, the AI, and the data combined. But with that, so and whether it's a savings number or an ROI number, that's that's because of all of those things combined. But what you did see in some of Emily's presentations are specific numbers where we're showing that we see, efficiency reductions or greater level of visibility into fraud or risk. And so the answer is both. It is in some cases specific to AI and we can produce the or have shared some of those results. In other cases, it's the combination of the platform and the AI and the data that are driving those outcomes. So hopefully that helps address that for most people. Alright. Thank you for taking a minute to reply on, on that poll. We really hope that even just pausing on this for a minute allowed you to plan that next step and and really think about how you're gonna continue to build on this. As we, look at what's next and where you get some value, I do wanna highlight the benchmark reports to you. Using all of this incredibly rich Coupa Software data that we've talked about, We publish reports. In in this case, you'll see, the strategic CFO priority. We also have, one of those for, supply chain and and procurement. In addition to that, we publish our benchmark data every year. What this looks at is the critical core KPIs that we use to run these functions and and we look at what best in class is across our customer base. If you don't leverage these, these reports or aren't familiar with them, please scan those QR codes right now. For me in particular, that KPI one is incredibly valuable. Understanding what KPI might be really important within your organization, and it can vary, then knowing where you are and how you move against that. That shows progress, and ensures that you're continue continuously evolving and improving. You heard Kathy talk earlier, and I loved this statement where she continues to look at the business case. Right? What what was the original intention, and how and what are they doing next to move the needle further against that intention? So looking at that, what other c CFOs or CPOs are thinking or looking at that benchmarking data can really make sure that you're building that same journey and driving adoption of of the tool overall and AI specifically to help you with the numbers you're trying to move. Okay. So the last slide I'm gonna leave up here for you, as we look and see if there are any other questions, and it is a reference to those deeper dives that we have planned. So you'll see here that we have AI and supply chain is planned for November 7, AI and procurement is planned for November 17, and then AI and finance is planned for December 18. Then, obviously, you can see those times there as well. I would encourage you to keep keep an eye out for these. Please register if you found that today's session was useful, but you really want to get to that next level of detail on what might be more specific within the capabilities that you care most about within Coupa Software. So I'm doing as you as I leave those with you, I'm doing a quick scan on the questions. But I feel like while we haven't answered everything, I know there was some great questions in the chat, and we've been really trying to stay on top of them. And we do and will commit to making sure that you get responses as we send the summary out after, after this session. With that, I wanna thank you all for coming on this journey with us with for the level of engagement that you've had. I wanna thank my wonderful colleague, Emily, who, as you can see, is a deep expert in this space, and then and the fantastic Cathy, who, obviously, through listening to her customer story, hopefully, was inspiring you on what the art of the possible is from where they as she spoke to Franklin Templeton started to where they are now, and ideally, you're on a journey like that yourself. Thank you all very much. We look forward to continuing the discussion.
